Preserved by Archie, Connie, Peg and Hilda, family photos and documents from early generations of both the Forster and Beatty family ended up in Harold’s possession, many of them unknown to other branches of the family.
I plan to put images of the very early photos and documents in this “Image gallery” section so that anyone who is interested can copy them. I’ll create a page here for members of the William Mark Forster and James Beatty families with the best photos of them and the documents about them. We don’t have adult photos of all of them, and there are more photos of some members of the family than others. Notably still to come is a section for Harold Forster.
From about 1913 onwards many more of the photos of family and friends will instead be included in “The story” as thumbnail images – see the chapters of “The story” on the side menu. Just click on the images in each chapter to see them full sized.
Regarding copyright, unless stated otherwise most of the photos reproduced here were taken by my aunt Peggy Beatty or other members of the family. Others are studio photos which should now be out of copyright and many are by unknown photographers. Please leave a comment if you have any concerns. If you want to reproduce any of them we’d appreciate it if you could credit the Beatty family.

Hi I come across your photo of the Cathedral taken from Wylies Hill Taggerty, do you have a photo of the same including the Taggerty township.

Hi Carl,
The photo at the head of my website is of Mt. Cathedral taken from the hill over the road from “Enniscrone” half way between Taggerty and Thornton in about 1975. The hill I was standing on was then owned by the Walkers, and the highest of the nearby hills was called “Walker’s Hill”. I don’t know a “Wylie’s Hill”. I wonder if you mean the hill we used to call “Mundroola” which immediately overlooks Taggerty? You couldn’t see Taggerty from where this photo was taken. I wish I had more photos of Taggerty back then. I especially wish I had photos of the old school which was demolished in the mid 1960’s I think.
Best wishes

Loved your research. I am researching Captain Matthew Webb, having written about him some years ago, and mentioned that he swam across Killala Bay. Didn’t know that your relation actually swam with him; probably rowed across in a boat? Love any folow up information.

Thanks for your interest Terry. I’m not sure how much more I’ll be able to find out about that family story. I’ll probably post about it at some stage though. Do you have a website yourself?

Hi my name is Allan Glazier and I noticed on your site you mentioned my great grand father and Grandmother James and Emma Glazier. I have written one book on my family history and have nearly finished the second edition. The second book includes many families and their history. PS I am not trying to sell my book. If you have done research into my family please feel free to discuss this with me maybe I can help out. Many thanks Allan Glazier.

Hi Allan, Emma Glazier (nee Lewis) was the sister of my gg grandmother Elizabeth Parker (nee Lewis) so that’s why your ancestors are in my family tree. I haven’t done much work on the Lewis branch of the family, or even the Parkers, and won’t be going further into the Glaziers. You and I are both ggg grandkids of George Lewis then, and 3rd cousins? More by email.
